Meet RAD’s full slate of endorsed candidates for the historic 2022 election season!
With Juneteenth this past weekend and Pride activities all month, we’ve been busy – and there’s more coming, as we turn out in solidarity, celebrate movement wins that have gotten us this far, and keep agitating for a just, liberatory future.
Rights & Democracy is pleased to announce their full list of regular endorsements for the 2022 elections of 31 candidates, including statewide endorsements of Peter Welch for US Senate, Becca Balint for US Congress, David Zuckerman for Lieutenant Governor, and Rory Thibault for Attorney General.
Like so many, we are reeling from the news of the past two weeks. As a community, RAD is comprised of many people who are all too familiar with the pain and terror of gun violence and racism in our country.

Can you believe that the legislative year is over? What a year it has been! We thank you for your testimonies, for the numerous opinion letters written to local newspapers, and for signing up to support and oppose so many priority bills. That is true people power!
We’ve got exciting news: our sister organization Rights & Democracy Institute (RDI) has opened applications for the 2022 Catalyst Leadership program!
As the weather and our work are heating up, we are growing our skills and preparing to move forward together with strength. ☀️
This week alone, 14 Senate bills and 34 House bills were negotiated in Committees of Conference. If these committees do not reach an agreement before next Thursday’s session, then the bills will die.
We have some incredible news: early this morning, HB103, establishing a dental benefit under NH Medicaid, passed the Committee of Conference!
This 2022 election season, we are fired up! The end of the Vermont legislative session re-grounded us in the importance of continuing to build movement power
The five courageous activists – including RAD staff and leaders – who were arrested at the New Hampshire State House in summer 2021 protesting Governor Sununu’s deeply harmful budget, spoke truth to power as they entered their pleas in court on May 13th.
This morning, the Vermont House failed to override Governor Scott’s recent veto of Burlington’s proposed Just Cause Eviction charter change by just one vote. We at Rights & Democracy are deeply disappointed by and angry about this loss for tenants, especially low-income and BIPOC residents who are most impacted by housing injustice, during a time in which secure housing is in short supply and rents are spiking.
A bill that would have enabled the distribution of $100 million in federal funds to increase the availability of affordable housing in New Hampshire recently stalled in the House. Rights & Democracy’s Housing for All Committee responds to the impact this will have in our ongoing fight to ensure all Granite State residents have safe and secure housing:
Spring at Rights & Democracy has been off to a moving start. In our calls, conversations, and meetings across the state, there is a palpable sense of energy and renewal.

As we enter this week, we are excited to see the momentum continuing for Vermont Renews priority bills. Last Wednesday, RAD joined “Lunch on the Lawn” at the State House, to say “yes” to free breakfast and lunch for all Vermont students.
Last week was full of movement and community, and we are entering Monday with our energy high. What better way to celebrate Earth Day than calling on elected leaders to take action now for a livable planet for us all?
Last week, we were happy to see more positive outcomes for RAD priority bills! These included a Senate vote to pass TWO RAD-supported bills related to healthcare and criminal justice reform.
As we enter mid-April, it’s starting to really feel like Spring. The warmer weather is bringing us fresh energy, and we have a lot of exciting events on the horizon!
As we enter mid-April, we are enjoying the first blooms of spring and celebrating recent wins in the work for a just Vermont in which we all can flourish. To name just a couple…
Thanks to everyone who has been testifying and reaching out to legislators, we saw a number of positive outcomes last week in the NH Senate.
Last week, a RAD-supported healthcare bill PASSED in the House! In the coming week, THREE priority healthcare bills will be heard, in the House Health and Senate Health Committees.
