What a night! RAD is proud and excited that 44 of our 58 endorsed candidates won their 2022 races up and down the ballot and will take office this coming session.
Winners included new and returning women and BIPOC champions running in key races, with first-time candidate Saudia LaMont for State Rep (Lamoille-Washington) as the top vote-getter in her district, and longtime RAD leaders Jubilee McGill for State Rep (Addison-5) and Tanya Vyhovsky for State Senate (Chittenden Central) both victorious.
Becca Balint, who has worked alongside us for years in the State House, will be taking a seat as Vermont’s first US Congresswoman, with Peter Welch joining her in the US Senate! And we are thrilled that movement champion David Zuckerman will be serving a new term as Lt. Governor.

These winners represent a diverse slate of leaders who are committed to winning positive change for Vermont’s multiracial working class communities and who will fight alongside us to make this happen.
We also came away from this election with a Democratic supermajority in the State House, which will make it easier to pass progressive policies and override obstructionist vetoes. And with voters saying YES to critical constitutional amendments enshrining reproductive justice and prohibiting slavery in all forms, we are on the right path to a more just future.
To all who ran for office, regardless of the final count, thank you for stepping up for our communities – especially if it was for the first time. For those who came up short, we are so grateful for your courageous and unifying leadership during a polarized time. Candidates like Brenda Siegel, Lauren Dees Erickson, Melissa Battah, Anna Tadio, Scott Weathers, and others ran amazing campaigns in challenging races and we look forward to continue working alongside them. Whether in the State House or on the ground, we need you in this movement!

While the federal landscape for the coming term has yet to be finalized, it is clear we have a lot of work ahead of us.
