We’re deep in preparations for the 2020 Women’s March here in New Hampshire!
Along the way to planning and building powerful rallies this year, we’re remembering all the great moments we shared last year at our marches and rallies.
This year we’re taking to our streets and public spaces again, stronger thanks to the efforts of our staff, allied organizations, and member leaders in the past year.
In 2019 our staff and members worked in coalition to support planning and building to bring together more than 1,000 people in Concord and over 700 in Portsmouth for the 2019 Women’s March. In Concord and Portsmouth we heard Maggie Hassan, Mindi Messmer, local community leaders, and RAD members speak. There were some incredible signs and powerful stories ringing out.
In 2020 we’re working hard to increase turnout and bring our community together through powerful speakers, community leaders, and volunteer efforts. Here’s a few of our own members speaking at the steps of the Capitol this year:
- Andrea Polizos, Rights & Democracy Institute Board Member & Monadnock Progressive Alliance Founding Leadership Team Member will be our emcee for this year’s march at the Capitol.
- Jodi Newell, Leadership Committee member, Keene resident, and single mother of two boys who lost her partner to overdose ten years ago. Jodi will be sharing her story and talking about her work with RAD, especially in fighting for Medicare for All and advancing harm reduction strategies in New Hampshire’s fight to end the overdose crisis.
- Duaa Zahra, RAD member, resident of Rye, New Hampshire, and artist. Duaa left Baghdad as a seventeen year old Iraqi refugee for New Hampshire ten years ago.
- Laura Lynch, who is an environmental activist, serves on the national leadership board for March On, is apart of the RAD Leadership Committee. She started March On NH and with many friends put together the 2018 Together We Rise Women’s Rally. She worked alongside many organizations to put together the 2019 3rd Annual NH Women’s Rally.
