Spring at Rights & Democracy has been off to a moving start. In our calls, conversations, and meetings across the state, there is a palpable sense of energy and renewal.
I saw this firsthand on Earth Day in Concord at the State House. It was a beautiful spring Saturday; we gave away packets of native wildflower seeds to support the biodiversity of our state and called on our elected leaders to take bold action in the face of the climate crisis.
It was a great afternoon to celebrate with local champions of our environment, and meet some emerging leaders as well. Seeing the potential of the new, young leaders – and really everyone willing to stand up to power – keeps me motivated in this work.
These are the leaders we need, and RAD has been at the forefront of supporting community leaders eager to engage in higher levels of leadership.

Hey everyone – Brandon Lemay here, NH Housing Justice Organizer for RAD.
This month I was proud to bring two tenants from RADs Housing For All Team to the Denver, Colorado, for the People’s Action national strategy summit, where we chose the focus of our national campaign; to establish an Office of Tenant Protections and a National Landlord Registry through the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. This will be the first step towards abolishing corporate landlords, homelessness and other causes of housing insecurity.
In Manchester, it was encouraging to organize with tenants brave enough to stand up to a system that currently treats them as just numbers on a balance sheet. Speaking up about their rent hikes, unsafe conditions, and looming “renovictions” (where landlords break leases and force evictions in the name of renovation) will inspire other tenants to team up with their neighbors for greater housing rights.
